About This Programme

ASSET is a professional standards body for scuba service engineers and technicians.

The Dive Industry Technician Course (DITC) is ASSET’s foundational professional programme for those who want to build real technical competence in the inspection, servicing, and management of scuba and diving life-support equipment.

This is not a basic awareness course. It is a practical, structured technician programme designed to give students the knowledge, workshop discipline, and confidence needed to work professionally with scuba equipment.

ASSET training supports structured professional development for dive equipment technicians, cylinder inspectors, compressor operators, and dive centre staff. Our courses are designed to build real-world competence through theory, practical workshop training, assessment, and documentation.

The course is aligned with British, European, and international standards relevant to dive equipment servicing, pressure systems, breathing air, cylinder inspection, and professional workshop practice.

Official CPD Standards Office Accredited Training Provider

ASSET is an Official CPD Standards Office Accredited Training Provider, supporting structured professional development within the diving industry.

ASSET courses are designed to provide recognised CPD learning hours for technicians and dive professionals who need to maintain, develop, and evidence their professional competence.

These CPD-accredited training hours can be recorded as part of a learner’s Continuing Professional Development record and may support employer, industry, insurance, quality-management, or professional-development requirements.

For dive centres, this provides additional evidence that staff training is structured, documented, and delivered within a recognised professional-development framework.

ASSET training combines:

  • Theory-based learning
  • Practical workshop training
  • Assessment of competence
  • Service documentation and traceability
  • Professional standards and accountability
  • British, European, and international standards awareness

Core Positioning

ASSET sets, teaches, and audits professional standards for scuba service engineers and technicians, aligned with British, European, and international pressure-systems safety.

This philosophy underpins every part of the Dive Industry Technician Course — from technical theory and workshop practice to certification, documentation, CPD records, and post-course professional support.

Students are trained to understand not only how equipment is serviced, but also why correct procedures, testing, documentation, standards, and professional judgement matter.

ASSET Programme Scope

The June and September 2026 intakes deliver structured instruction and assessed practical work across the following professional domains:

Physics & Physiology for Dive Technicians

An engineering-relevant understanding of gas laws, pressure, breathing systems, and human physiology, helping technicians understand equipment performance, fault conditions, and safety implications.

Tools & Equipment for Professional Servicing

Correct selection, calibration, and controlled use of specialist tools, with emphasis on torque management, cleanliness, traceability, workshop discipline, and professional servicing habits.

Scuba Regulator Servicing

Practical servicing procedures in accordance with manufacturer instructions and professional servicing principles, including inspection, fault diagnosis, cleaning, controlled reassembly, adjustment, testing, and performance verification.

Visual Inspection of Scuba Cylinders

Inspection principles aligned with recognised pressure-systems standards, covering:

  • External and internal cylinder inspection
  • Thread assessment and cylinder neck checks
  • Defect identification and rejection criteria
  • Valve inspection and basic cylinder safety
  • Inspection documentation and traceability

Servicing of Supporting Dive Equipment

Professional inspection and servicing awareness for supporting dive equipment, including:

  • Buoyancy Control Devices (BCDs)
  • Dry suits and wetsuits
  • Valves and ancillary components
  • Dive computers and associated equipment

Compressor & Breathing-Air Systems Awareness

Introduction to compressed-air systems, compressor operation, air quality, filtration, moisture control, and the importance of safe filling-station practice within dive centre operations.

Safety, Legal & Professional Accountability

Clear instruction on:

  • Technician duty of care
  • Legal responsibilities and liability awareness
  • Record keeping and audit readiness
  • Working within applicable legislation, manufacturer instructions, and industry expectations
  • Understanding when equipment should not be returned to service

Who This Programme Is Designed For

This programme is intended for individuals and organisations that require professional technician competence, not entry-level recreational certification.

It is suitable for:

  • Dive centre technicians and technical managers
  • Independent scuba service engineers
  • Dive professionals moving into engineering-based roles
  • Commercial divers and offshore personnel seeking technical development
  • Organisations seeking audit-ready technician training
  • Technicians responsible for safety-critical diving equipment
  • Technical divers wanting a deeper understanding of equipment servicing

Why Train with ASSET?

ASSET training is:

CPD-accredited professional development training
Standards-driven
Engineering-led
Hands-on and workshop-based
Assessment-based
Audit-ready
Internationally aligned
Built on professional accountability

Certification issued by ASSET represents measured competence, not simple attendance.

Graduates are trained to work within systems that can withstand inspection, audit, customer scrutiny, and professional responsibility.

ASSET also continues to support its technicians after training. If questions or technical issues arise later in the workshop, ASSET remains available to provide guidance and professional support.
